    Recommendations:

    • Keep diet changes to a minimum. When selecting a new diet try to keep the pellet size, characteristics (floating / sinking) and type (frozen, fresh, flake, pellet) as close to the original diet as possible.

    • If your fish are skittish / shy consider a sinking pellet rather than floating.

    • Keep the pellet size to 25% to 50% of the fishes mouth. We recommend a smaller pellet than larger if you are unsure, as you can always go up a size!

    • When moving up a pellet size, keep in mind the size change. A change from 1mm to 2mm pellet may not seem like a large move, but you are doubling the pellet size! We recommend mixing pellets when you move to the next size up.

    • Slowly introduce diet changes to your fish. Please don’t rush, it’s better to slowly introduce new diets to your fish until you are satisfied they can happily accept the new food.

  • Simply navigate to our products page and choose the desired pellet type, size and quantity depending upon the species of fish you keep.

  • In the rare occurrence that your fish won’t eat the pellets, the following information may help the transition.

    • Your fish can sometimes take longer to adjust to changes in their diet. Especially changes in size, or type of feed. Eg: sinking to floating or frozen, live, fresh or flake to a pellet. We advise taking your time, and slowly introducing changes to your fishes diet.

    • We recommend: Mixing your new pellets in with the original food. A good rule of thumb is 10% of the new pellets, to 90% of the old diet. You can slowly change the percentages to wean them completely onto the new diet, over the following weeks. Eg: every week change by 10%, or depending on how they take to the pellets. Remember to continue to feed the pellets, even if they are uneaten. Remove any uneaten pellets after you have finished feeding.

    • Keep changes to the minimum. When selecting a pellet, try to aim to keep the characteristics of the pellet similar to their old diet. Sometimes fish may not associate a new diet as a food source if suddenly the pellet is larger / smaller or now floats rather than sink. Similarly if you were feeding a flake diet, and swap to a pellet overnight fish may simply not associate it as food.

    • As a last resort you can fast your fish to accepting the new pellets. Completely holding off from feeding the original diet, and only feeding the new pellets until they accept them. Or not feeding at all for a number of days, and introducing the pellets when hungry. Be mindful when perusing this options as you don’t want to starve your fish.

    • Remember always remove uneaten pellets from the tank when weaning fish after finished feeding.
